LPG auto permits

CHENNAI: The 10,000 autorickshaws that were sanctioned LPG-dedicated autorickshaw permits for the benefit of unemployed youth would be permitted to ply only if fitted with an LPG kit that is an original equipment, according to a release.

If the existing autorickshaw is to be replaced with a new vehicle, the replacement should also be LPG-dedicated.

Newly-registered petrol and diesel vehicles would not be issued autorickshaw permits in the Chennai Metropolitan Area, according to the release from the Joint Transport Commissioner, Chennai Zone.
