Leak in water authority pipeline

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The supply of drinking water to areas coming under the ‘low-lying zone’ of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) was disrupted on Tuesday evening following a leak in a 400 mm HDPE line near Power House Road.

The line originates at Vellayambalam and services areas including Kovalam, Fort, Sreevarahom, Attukal, Enchakkal and Sreekanteswaram. A KWA official said here that though the leak was detected on Tuesday morning, water supply in the line was not shut off to avoid inconvenience to the public.

KWA workers positioned a ‘bracket’ over the leak and bolted it in place. Normal water supply is expected to be restored only by Wednesday morning.
