Machine fault hits angio procedure
Staff Reporter
Thiruvananthapuram: All angio procedures — angiogram and angioplasty — at the Medical College hospital continues to be hit after the machine operated by the Kerala Health Research and Welfare Society (KHRWS) broke down a week ago.
The Rs.3.5-crore imported machine requires its UPS to be replaced and the spare part has to come from Germany before anything can be done, MCH authorities said.
While KHRWS authorities hope that the machine can be repaired this week itself, the stalling of all angio procedures has been causing a lot of hardships to the patients of the Cardio Thoracic Department.
Like every other diagnostic or testing device in MCH, the angio machine is also working overtime. At least 15 angio procedures are scheduled and performed at the MCH on a daily basis.
