15 lose deposit in Udupi district

Udupi: Of the 25 people who contested the five Assembly seats in Udupi district, 15 have lost their deposit. Prominent among those who lost deposit are: Zakir Hussain of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) from Udupi Assembly constituency, Leeladhar Shetty (Janata Dal – Secular), Steven John Menezes (Bahujan Samaj Party) and Karunakar Prabhu (Samajwadi Party) from Kaup, B.T. Manjunath Poojary (Janata Dal-Secular), Oswald Fernandes (Bahujan Samaj Party) and Mohammad Hussain (Samajwadi Party) from Kundapur, U. Das Bhandary (Communist Party of India – Marxist), Shiriyar Muddanna Shetty (Janata Dal-Secular) and Udaykumar Tallur (BSP) from Byndoor constituency.

As many as five independent candidates also forfeited their deposit in the district.They are: Nagesh Rao and Gururaj Bhat alias Surya from Kaup constituency, Subbanna Shetty, H. Suresh Poojary and Manjappa Poojary from Byndoor.
