Sale of forms begins at DU colleges

NEW DELHI: Though sale and receipt of Delhi University’s common pre-admission forms begins on June 2, St. Stephen’s and Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College started selling their prospectus on Monday.
On the first day itself, Khalsa College sold more than 600 forms. “We started the process early this year to avoid any inconvenience to the students. We have courses in 19 different disciplines. The college will accept applications forms online also from June 2,” said Principal Jaswinder Singh. At St. Stephen’s, 1,000-odd forms were sold on Monday. The college has declared that it will not accept the University’s pre-admission forms, while there are no such issues at Khalsa College.
Security arrangements
Ahead of the admission registration process, the University has made some security and traffic arrangements to handle the rush.
“ The University will provide tents and public address system for the convenience of admission seekers wherever needed, particularly at the office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare and Arts Faculty,” said Registrar A. K. Dubey.
Police pickets will be strengthened at all the women’s hostels. This year, only the official students’ unions of the University and individual colleges would be allowed to put up tents for providing information to admission seekers. No sponsored tents would be allowed within the campus.
“No wall posters or banners as well as defacing of walls would be allowed in the University and college premises. If any union/party indulges in such activities, police action would be initiated against them,” said an official release.
The traffic police will also make appropriate arrangements at important crossings and roads on the campus.
For the guidance of admission seekers belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and from the North-East, mobile volunteers will be deployed.
