VMCA to face VCA in final
HUBLI: Skipper Shreyas Murdeshwar (55) and Samarth Ooty (60 not out) added 144 runs for the second wicket to steer Vasant Murdeshwar Cricket Academy (VMCA), Dharwad, to an eight-wicket win over Hubli Sports Club (HSC) and reach the final of the SAVSOL Cup under-16 cricket tournament at the Karnataka Gymkhana ground here on Monday.
VMCA will face Vijay Cricket Academy (VCA), Belgaum, in the two-day final commencing on May 28.
On Sunday, aided by a fine all-round performance by Afroze Kutty (three for 56 and 115), VCA (Belgaum) defeated host Hubli Cricket Academy (HCA) ‘A’ by six wickets to enter the final.
The scores: HSC (Hubli) 149 in 42.5 overs (Mohammad Arif 43) lost to VMCA (Dharwad) 150 for two in 22 overs (Samarth Ooty 60 n.o., Shreyas Murdeshwar 55).
HCA ‘A’ (Hubli) 240 for six in 50 overs (Sushant Masalwad 109 n.o.) lost to VCA (Belgaum) 244 for four in 43.4 overs (Afroze Kutty 115, Sumant Welling 52). — Staff Correspondent
