KOCHI: The Bangalore-based Kristal group has launched a new housing project at Elamakkara with an investment of over Rs.78 crore. Talking to mediapersons here, group chairman K.K. Namboodiri said the project, christened Kristal Malachite, was a premium two and three-bedroom apartment project with a full-fledged club house and other utilities. This is the fourth project of the group in Kochi. It was inaugurated by Mayor Mercy Williams. The apartments are priced in the range of Rs.27 lakh to Rs.50 lakh, the directors of the group said. Kristal has established a firm footing with a total outlay of over Rs.1,200 crore, the group said. It has earmarked another Rs.3,000 crore for various residential projects in the country. Kristal earned a revenue of over Rs.200 crore from its Indian operations and the target this year was Rs.500 crore, Mr. Namboodiri said. The company has presence in the U.S., Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It is on the lookout for a tie-up with China for importing interior design materials and acquiring a manufacturing firm. The group has taken the consortium route for expanding business activities and strategic tie-ups, Mr. Namboodiri said. The group is also expanding to northern Kerala. It has launched a houseboat project in Alappuzha. It has also given shape to a cultural wing. Studio apartments, villas and cottages in Munnar are also planned, he said.
