HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has agreed to meet a delegation of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) at his residence on Sunday morning to discuss the organisation’s demand for categorisation of Scheduled Castes. The meeting with Dr. Reddy was arranged by K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, Congress MP, following the sit-in by MRPS founder president Manda Krishna and his followers at the Indira Park since Friday night. Mr. Krishna and a large number of others camped in the park throughout Friday night and the whole of Saturday demanding a meeting with Dr. Reddy to press for categorisation. They shifted into the park after addressing a public meeting outside. Mr. Krishna had told the meeting that there was no question of his leaving the venue until he met Dr. Reddy to demand him to mount pressure on the Central government to promulgate an ordinance categorising SCs. For his part, Dr. Reddy should take the initiative to stop employment to posts of SCs until the categorisation was completed, he said.
