Hema Malini invited to address tomorrow’s election meeting

HYDERABAD: The BJP has decided to launch a high-voltage campaign for the party’s candidate in the Musheerabad Assembly constituency in the city.

It has invited film actress and party MP Hema Malini to address an election meeting in the constituency on Monday and former BJP presidents M. Venkaiah Naidu and Bangaru Laxman on Tuesday.

Former Minister and party MP from Bihar Shanawaz Hussain addressed a public meeting to canvas votes for the BJP candidate Dr. K. Lakshman.

Launch pad

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Shahnawaz Hussain said that the Musheerabad byelection was going to be the launch pad for the party’s growth in the State..

It would be impossible for any party to from a Government in the State without the support of BJP after the next general elections.

Mr. Hussain, who is a member of the Central Election Committee, said that the BJP has entered the election fray only in Musheerabad—where it perceives its victory prospects to be high—so as to send a clear message to the people that it had a bright future.

The party will then aim at repeating the Musheerabad victory in the general elections next year.

Learning from Karnataka

The party is keen to replicate its experiment in Karnataka where, after raisings its MLA strength from 4 to 40, it is now planning to form a Government on its own, Mr. Hussain said.

BJP State president B. Dattatreya said that the party would organise a victory rally in Musheerabad after the declaration of results of the Karnataka Assembly elections on Sunday.
