Nalgonda explosives for Jaipur blasts?

S. Ramu

NALGONDA: Investigators suspect that explosive material manufactured in a factory in Nalgonda district might have been used in the blasts that rocked Jaipur killing more than 60 persons and maiming 150 people on May 12.

According to reliable sources, a few top investigators probing the Jaipur blasts visited an explosives factory situated in a remote part of Bommala Ramaram village, about 22 km from Bhongir town, on Friday afternoon.

It is learnt that the team from Rajasthan descended on the factory with specific information that material had been supplied from the factory.

"They checked the records and invoices. They have also taken photo copies of some documents," a reliable source told The Hindu on Saturday.

Investigation team

However the local police were kept in the dark about the visit of the investigation team. "I don’t have any idea about it (the visit of the team).

I’ll have to check it," Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar, who was busy overseeing the arrangements for the bypoll for the Alair Assembly segment, said.

Asked about the possibility of supplying explosives from the local factories, the SP said: "These people sell off the material to licensed holders, who in turn, could supply them to unscrupulous elements."

In 2007, an investigation team that probed the Coimbatore blasts visited an explosives factory situated at Kandukur near Alair and verified some vital documents.
