Safety measures: The premises of the Government Science College in Chitradurga where counting will be held, has been fenced. Chitradurga: The district administration has made the necessary arrangements for the counting of votes on Sunday, Retuning Officer Vishwanath Mudajji has said. He told presspersons here on Saturday that the results were expected by noon. As many as 1,321 electronic voting machines used during the polls have been kept at the Government Science College and the P.U. College where counting will take place. Advanced softwareMr. Mudajji said specially-designed software would be used to upload the latest results onto the Internet, and the information would be directly passed on to the State Election Commission in Bangalore. As many as 300 officials had been appointed to oversee the process, he said and added that a media centre had been set up for the media. Cellular phones were banned inside the counting hall. Round-the-clock security had been provided in and around the counting centres. The entire premises had been fenced to prevent trespassing, he said. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code had also been imposed. The section prevents the assembly of more than five persons in and around the area, and will remain in force from 6 a.m. on Sunday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday. All firecracker shops in the district had been directed to remain closed till Tuesday, he added.
