Notice to candidates in Musheerabad

Asked to remove banners, flags put up at various places

HYDERABAD: The Returning Officer for Musheerabad Assembly constituency on Sunday served notice on the candidates of the Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the CPI (M) to remove all banners, wall posters, flags and flexi-boards set up at various places by 11 p.m.

Explanation sought

The candidates were also asked to explain by 10 a.m. on Monday as to why suitable action should not be initiated against them ‘for wilful violation of election and other laws.’ The notice also sought to know whether the expenditure on setting up the campaign material at various places in the constituency was included in the expenditure register being maintained by them.

Violation of code

The notice to Nayani Narasimha Reddy (TRS), T. Manemma (Congress), K. Laxman (BJP) and S. Veeraiah (CPI-M) said the campaign material was found in violation of the Model Code of Conduct on the electrical and telephone poles and along/across the roads/footpaths in various places, including Hari Nagar, Gemini Colony, Vidya Nagar, Kavadiguda road and Bholakpur by the election observer, Purkayastha, during his tour of the constituency.
