Now, SMS bank to get education loan

CHENNAI: Taking loans to pursue higher studies has just become easier. UCO Bank has launched a facility of making available educational loans through SMS.
Giving details of the new facility, General Manager (Field Operations), UCO Bank, N. Kumaraswamy, told presspersons here on Friday that parents or their wards could send an SMS to three designated officers requesting for educational loan with their names and contact numbers.
They would get in touch with them immediately. The loan would be sanctioned in less than four days’ time.
Mobile numbers
The designated officers with mobile phone numbers are Rajamanohar (9940201909), V. Vijayan (9940201904) and S. Sriram (9940201902).
The bank had 81 branches in Tamil Nadu, over 30 of them in rural areas.
He said though the educational loan scheme was available through most public sector banks, the UCO Bank had disbursed Rs.18 crore by way of educational loans in the Tamil Nadu zone.
