VIJAYAWADA: Unveiling the plans of the ‘Rotary District 3020’ to offer better services to the poor and the needy, district governor P. Sadanand on Saturday said that the Rotary Club of Vijayawada would soon arrange furniture for schools run by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, besides conducting health camps and dental camps for the students. Mr. Sadanand, at a press conference, announced that the Rotary Club of Vijayawada had bagged the prestigious ‘Significant Achievement Award’ from the Rotary International. Cancer centreThis award was in recognition of the service activities launched by the club during the last one year. Mr. Sadanand said ‘Rotary District 3020’ had opened a cancer research and treatment centre in Visakhapatnam last month, for which it had spent about Rs. 4 crores. With the help of Naandi Foundation, a drinking water project was launched in Krishna district and the programme would be extended to three villages soon. A mobile hospital would be inaugurated in Rajahmundry in a month from now.
