Rain drenches city on Friday evening

Crash: A Tree, not able to withstand the heavy rain and wind fell down at Scott Road near Head Post Office in Madurai on Friday.

MADURAI: Heavy rain, accompanied by squally wind, lashed the city in the evening hours of Friday making several people drench. On many roads, traffic moved at a snail’s pace due to water logging and two-wheelers were mostly off the roads for a couple of hours.

A sultry day till the afternoon, the sky turned overcast towards evening and poured for over two hours. Power disruption was reported at many places.
