BEIJING: Zhuo Lin, wife of China’s chief designer of the Reform and Opening Drive, Deng Xiaoping, has donated 1,00,000 yuan for quake relief, according to the Red Cross Society of China. On Thursday, the Red Cross received the donation – all her savings and money from family members. Mrs. Zhuo (92) said she would spare no efforts to help the victims in the affected areas, according to the sources. Mrs. Zhuo is a native of Xuanwei, Yunnan Province. She married Deng, a native of Guang’an, Sichuan, in 1939. The couple have two sons and three daughters. Deng sometimes made donations in the name of an “old Communist Party member”. — Xinhua
