Hooda hits out at Bhajan Lal

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda hit out at his political bete noir, former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, for breaking away from the Congress and openly criticising party president Sonia Gandhi despite the fact that she had appointed him president of the Haryana unit of the Congress and one of his sons as Deputy Chief Minister of the State.

Addressing election rallies in the Adampur constituency from where Mr. Bhajan Lal is seeking re-election to the State Assembly in the May 22 by-election on Haryana Janhit Congress ticket, Mr. Hooda said Mr. Lal had served as Chief Minister for a long time with the blessings of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Also, his younger son was given Lok Sabha ticket by the Congress.

Mr. Hooda asserted that the days of Mr. Bhajan Lal were now over and the doors of Congress party were closed forever for him. Accusing Mr. Bhajan Lal of hobnobbing with the Chautala clan in the previous elections, he said this politics of connivance had been exposed now.
