More DU seats for OBC candidates
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Delhi University on Thursday notified that it would increase the number of seats in each course by 18 per cent to accommodate 9 per cent reservation for candidates from the Other Backward Classes from the academic year 2008-09.
“All those candidates who want to avail themselves of OBC reservation in various courses being run by the University have to submit OBC (Central Government List) certificate from the prescribed authority. The certificate must clearly mention that he/she does not belong to the ‘creamy layer’,” said the Registrar in an official release on Thursday.
A duly attested photocopy of the certificate should be submitted at the time of the admission to the concerned faculty/department/college. The candidate must prominently write OBC certificate number in the form.
This year the application forms of the University will have a separate column on non-creamy OBC category. The sale and receipt of admission forms will begin from June 2.
Direct admission
While the admission of candidates from SC/ST categories to different colleges will be done in a centralised manner, OBC students will be admitted directly at the college level.
