Two women die of burn injuries

CHENNAI: Two women, both in their twenties, died of burns sustained while cooking using kerosene pump stoves in separate incidents.

In the first incident that happened around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Tulasi (28) of Tiruvalangadu in Tiruvallur district was cooking when the stove exploded. Tulasi succumbed to her injuries at the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Thursday.

Tulasi’s husband is a mason. The couple had been married for 10 years and have two children.

Indira (24) of Secretariat Colony, Kilpauk, was boiling milk on Wednesday morning when her sari caught fire. She succumbed to the injuries some hours later at the KMCH.

Her husband works in a private hospital. The couple had been married for five years. A statutory inquiry by the Revenue Divisional Officer was done on Thursday.

Commits suicide

Karthik (20) was brought dead to the Government Royapettah Hospital on Wednesday night.

His parents found him hanging in their house on Saiva Muthali Street, Royapettah, on Wednesday around 7 p.m.

According to Ice House Police, who are investigating the case, the boy had taken the extreme step after he had been scolded by his father.
