BANGALORE: The authorities of schools that are part of The Hindu’s NIE programme expressed their happiness over the increase in the number of students who have passed in First Class in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination. They said perseverance, persistence and preparation of the students had yielded desired results. “Having decided that I was going to excel, I created a plan of work and began with a modest two hours of work every day. I ramped this up gradually and by the time school reopened for the 10th, I was working close to four hours daily,” said Madhusudhan C. R., student of AV Education Society, JP Nagar. Madhusudan and Rohan G. are the toppers of the school. Their aggregate is 97.6 per cent and Rohan scored 100 per cent marks in mathematics and social studies. Jeevitha K., who also scored 100 per cent marks in mathematics, said that she set a timetable and stuck to it. In all, 44 students of the school have passed in First Class. In Carmel School, Padmanabhanagar, 269 students of the 279 that appeared for the examination have passed in First Class. “This excellent result has been possible due to the untiring efforts of students as well as teachers. We also recognise the support of the parents,” said the spokesperson of the school. Sunil N., student of Jnana Bodhini School, Seshadripuram, got 608 marks out of 625. In mathematics and science, he scored 100 per cent marks. “It was not all work and no play — I played at least an hour near home most days,” he said. Malini Manoharan and Lavanya C. are the other students who have scored above 90 per cent marks. At Jnana Deepthi English Primary and High School, Avalahalli, all the 36 students have passed. Navyashree M. with 97 per cent marks is the school topper. “Having written the examination well, I had hopes of being the school topper but kept my fingers crossed. When I saw the marks on the Internet, my joy knew no bounds,” she said. Raghu M.S., Bharathi Sahu and Anand of the school have scored 90 per cent marks. At Twinklers High School, Vijayanagar, seven students have passed in First Class. Manjunath Swamy is the school topper. He has scored an aggregate of 94 per cent. “When I knew that I had topped the school, my heart leapt and I was bouncing like a tennis ball,” he said. Pooja Kulkarni and Madan P. are the other students who have scored above 90 per cent marks. The Hindu NIE team
