Staff Reporter
Court tells police to hand him back in a healthy condition
VIJAYAWADA: The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court here on Thursday accorded permission to the city police to take Gurvinder Singh alias Laddu alias Bobby into their custody for eight days.
Gurvinder Singh was sent to judicial remand on the charge of killing pharmacy student Ayesha Meera in a private hostel at Ibrahimpatnam on the city outskirts on December 27 last.
He was sent to the central prison in Rajahmundry on judicial remand for 21 days on Friday. Subsequently, the city police moved a petition in the court seeking permission to take him into their custody for 10 days for questioning.
Though Gurvinder Singh, through his advocate, challenged the petition, the court accorded permission to the police to question him for eight days. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (in-charge) M.R. Satyanarayana allowed Assistant Commissioner of Police (West zone) L. Vijay Kumar to take Gurvinder into custody at 5 p.m. on Thursday and send him back to judicial custody at 5 p.m. on May 23.
The court made it clear that he should be handed back in a healthy condition.
