‘BJP workers were abducted’
Staff Correspondent
DAVANGERE: The Bharatiya Janata Party MP for Bellary, G. Karunakara Reddy, who is contesting from Harpanahalli Assembly segment in Davangere district, has alleged that supporters of the Congress candidate from the same constituency, M.P. Prakash, had abducted two BJP workers and kept them confined in a guesthouse of a sugar factory.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Reddy also alleged that the Congress workers had threatened the BJP workers with dire consequences.
Later, the BJP workers informed the police about the incident. The police raided the guesthouse and rescued the BJP workers, he claimed.
Mr. Reddy said that the BJP had registered a complaint with the police in the matter and asked them to arrest the persons involved in the incident.
Referring to the arrest of his brother Janardhan Reddy in Bellary, Mr. Reddy alleged that the special observer was biased and asked the Election Commission to recall him from Bellary.
Speaking about his chances in the elections, Mr. Reddy claimed that he enjoyed the support of the people of the constituency and was confident of an election victory.
