Fatal ‘fall’ for Inter student

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: An Intermediate final year student of Narayana Junior College for girls in Kukatpally died of injuries after a fall from the fifth floor of her hostel building on Tuesday.

According to police, K. Deepthi could have leapt to death as she was reportedly feeling homesick.

Deepthi, who joined the corporate college this year, was brought to the campus by her parents on Monday night after she spent sometime at home in Proddatur of Kadapa. The girl, the police said, was feeling homesick, but her parents -- Mohan Reddy and Bharati -- convinced her to stay put on the campus. They talked to Deepthi for an hour and left for their home town around 8 p.m. promising to come back soon.

The girl was last seen with colleagues during study hours. The floor in-charge found she was not in her room around 10.30 p.m. and alerted the college authorities. On searching the college premises, they found her lying on a heap of garbage on the ground floor with bleeding injuries on head. “She apparently leapt to death from the fifth floor soon after the study hours were over,” Kukatpally Sub-Inspector T. Ravinder told reporters.
