TIRUNELVELI: Five Village Administrative Officers have been suspended by the Cheranmahadevi Revenue Divisional Officer for refusing to take part in the ‘jamabandhi’ (annual settlement of village accounts) and instigating their colleagues to join them in the protest. According to existing government regulations and earlier verdicts of courts, government employees cannot go on agitation and refuse to work when they are on duty.
