Ultimate experience : The Tea Lounge in Udhagamandalam.

Udhagamandalam: Even as various agencies including the Tea Board are now engaged in the exercise of boosting the image of the Nilgiris tea in various parts of the country and abroad the management of the Glendale Estate has introduced a brand promotion concept which has hitherto not been seen in the Nilgiris despite it being one of the leading tea growing areas in India. With the objective of familiarising thousands of tourists who are now flocking to this vacation destination with different kinds of teas manufactured by Glendale Estate and also show to the public what can be achieved through value addition, it has opened a temporary Tea Lounge on the Government Botanical Garden road.

It was inaugurated on Sunday by the Convenor, Indian National Trust for Art, Culture and Heritage (INTACH), the Nilgiris Chapter Geetha Srinivasan.

Ambience

Pointing out that more such facilities should come up on a permanent basis here she opined that they would be in keeping with the ethos of the Nilgiris. The ambience would be ideal for intellectual exchanges. Even get - togethers can be arranged, she said.

The Executive Director, Glendale Estate G.Udayakumar said that coinciding with the opening of the lounge a range of dip bags has been launched.

Dip bags

They include English breakfast, Plantation Fresh, green tea and flavoured teas like Early Grey, Lemon and Ginger for connoisseurs. Discerning customers can even mix and blend teas to suit their taste.
