Change the pass-bus schedule

Sir, — The pass-bus plying between Andhrahalli and K.R. Market should leave Andhrahalli at 7.50 a.m. to Kempe Gowda Bus Stand and not to K.R. Market. The second bus at 10 a.m. should also be operated to the Kempe Gowda Bus Stand. This request is being made to help schoolchildren and office-goers, because the Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation has not considered another request to introduce an additional bus to Vidyaranyanagar. It is also requested that the pass-bus should invariably pass through Herohalli Cross on both ways. On the return trips, the pass-buses should leave Kempe Gowda Bus Stand at 3.30 p.m. and 5.15 p.m.

Repair roads

Sir, — The Hosur Road, especially near the NIMHANS, is in poor shape and warrants immediate repairs to prevent fatal accidents from happening. Already, accidents have been occurring regularly on this road. Besides, there is an urgent need to regulate the heavy flow of traffic on this road. Installation of signal lights and deputation of a traffic police at the main junction will ease the traffic. The signal lights installed some time ago have not been functioning and the authorities have not bothered to replace them with new ones. I request the authorities concerned to look into the problem and address it on priority.

Electoral rolls

Sir, — It is unfortunate that the names of a large number of citizens were found missing from the electoral rolls during the first phase of Assembly elections in Karnataka held on May 10. The Government machinery which prepared the rolls is expected to discharge its duties diligently and with care. However, citizens should share the blame to an extent too. The State Election Commission published the revised list of voters and urged the citizens to verify the same. Those who found their names missing were given the opportunity to get them included in the list. The Government took steps to create public awareness on this exercise. However, it was not fully utilised by the people. As a result, many eligible voters could not exercise their franchise. In a democracy, people should always be vigilant and protect their right to vote.
