TNAU sets up research station in Chettinad

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has established a research station at Chettinad in Sivaganga district for developing dry land areas having red soil with crops like groundnut, gingerly sunflower and millets. New technology would be developed to boost the production potential of these crops under dry land condition, a press release from P. Balasubramaniyam, Professor and Head, Dryland Agricultural Research Station, Chettinad, here on Saturday said.

Seed production will also be explored to distribute quality seeds to farmers, he said.

According to Dr. Balasubramaniyan, the TNAU Vice-Chancellor has informed that Rs.5 crore will be allotted for the research station from the Central Government fund received by university.
