Fake goods manufacturing units raided

BERHAMPUR: Name any consumable item of any reputed brand, there is every chance of its duplicate variety being manufactured in Berhampur.

On Saturday afternoon, police teams from Badabazar police station raided two houses at Danda Kali Street of the Aska road area, which were being used as manufacturing units of the fake goods. The variety of fake goods being manufactured by these units took the raiding team by surprise, said investigating officer S.H.H.Buruda.

These two units were producing fake mosquito repellent liquid refills, fake baby food of Amul Spray brand, fake butter packs of reputed brands, fake packets of Tata Tea, fake Navaratna oil and fake ‘Desi ghee’ of reputed brands.

They were also producing fake pouches of all possible brands of Gutka and pan masala.

Machines used for packing and sealing of the fake products, fake labels and packing materials and large amount of fake products were seized from these two houses.

Two persons involved in this racket, P.Nageswar Patro and Rajesh Behera were arrested. They are being interrogated to find out other persons involved in the racket.

It may be noted that Mr. Patro and Mr. Behera have past cases of production of fake goods.
