CHENNAI: Having tasted success in producing and marketing DVD players, home appliance major Godrej Appliances is gearing up to enter the colour television space soon. Kamal Nandi, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), Godrej Appliances, told this correspondent that the company would do a pilot-launch of the entire range of televisions in Andhra Pradesh in August. The company would launch televisions in flat, super flat, slim and LCD categories. On the pricing strategy, he said they would be priced on a par with others in the market but deliver a higher value proposition. Depending on the models, he said they would be priced between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 70,000. The company would initially go in for a third party manufacturing with its own design and technology. Mr. Nandi said the company had recently introduced ‘Navigator’, a new range of window air-conditioners, incorporating the latest i-flow technology for maximum cooling efficiency. On the company’s new initiatives, he said Godrej was opening 200 Cool Zones, which included 24 in Tamil Nadu. These would act as AC advisors to provide consumers valuable advice on purchasing and maintaining air-conditioners. On the launch of new products this year, he said the company plans to introduce eight new washing machines, five new models of DVD players and 13 microwave ovens.
