50 tonnes of fertilizers needed

To meet demands of farmers in Dindigul: Collector
|
DINDIGUL: Fifty tonnes of fertilizers, including 20 tonnes of DAP, are needed for this month to meet the requirements of farmers in the district, according to Collector R. Vasuki .
Fifty tonnes of fertilizers had been sold in April and the cooperative societies have started selling fertilisers for the convenience of farmers.
She was conducting surprise checks at fertiliser shops in Oddanchatram taluk here on Friday evening. Cooperative shops would sell fertilizers only to farmers and efforts were on to ensure regular supply in future.
Earlier, the Collector checked stock registers, bill book, price list, weights and measures and quality of pesticides at the fertiliser shops.
Agriculture officials informed that the demand would grow manifold in June as farmers in Nilakottai would start agricultural activities.
