Rains bring relief to Punjab, Haryana

CHANDIGARH: People in most parts of Punjab and Haryana got a much-needed respite from heat wave conditions after rains lashed several parts of the two States on Saturday.

This Union Territory and its adjoining areas received light showers and the skies were cloudy.

Ambala received 10.6 mm rain while Hisar got 1.5 mm, the Meteorological Department said here.

Karnal (4 mm) and Rohtak (1 mm) in Haryana witnessed showers.

In Punjab, Madhopur (5 mm), Pathankot (2 mm), Amritsar (1 mm), Ludhiana (2 mm), Patiala (4.2 mm), Balachaur (2.4 mm) and Mukerian (1 mm) were among the places to be lashed by rains.

Shimla received 3.1 mm, the Met office said. — PTI
