THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) have decided to bury their differences and work together in Malappuram district. A decision to this effect was taken by leaders of the two parties at the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition here on Saturday. The two sides decided to hold further discussions and work for greater unity in the district. The discussions were chaired by United Democratic Front convener P. P. Thankchan. Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala and Aryadan Mohammed represented the Congress at the meeting. The Muslim League was represented at the talks by party State general secretary P.K. Kunhalikkutty and former Education Minister E.T. Mohammed Basheer. The relations between the two parties had soured following some scathing remarks about the Muslim League from Mr. Mohammed.
