Abhinava ‘approached’ gangster through friend

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Abhinava Reddy, who surrendered before the Banjara Hills police, reportedly admitted on Friday that he had approached Azeez Reddy through his friend Vamshidhar Reddy.

Abhinava Reddy’s father works as MVI at Siddipet. Vamshidhar’s father used to work as RTO of Uppal but was suspended after ACB registered a criminal case against him for amassing wealth illegally. Since their fathers worked in the same department, the two knew each other, police sources said.

Abhinava said he had once told Vamshidhar about producer Nikhil Reddy owing him Rs. 40 lakh. Vamshidhar then approached Azeez Reddy to settle the dispute by paying Rs. 10 lakh, he reportedly confessed to the police.

Further inquiries revealed that Vamshidhar came to know Azeez Reddy when the latter approached him seeking a driving licence.
