Admission to APIIITs by invitation

Marks scored in SSC will be the criteria, says K.C. Reddy


2,000 seats are available at Basara, Idupulapaya and Nuzvid; laptops for all students

15 per cent for State toppers and the rest will be filled based on Presidential order


HYDERABAD: Admissions to the three institutes under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, earlier known as APIIITs, will be by invitation based on the marks scored by the students in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.

APSCHE Chairman K.C. Reddy said for the 2,000 seats each available in the institutes at Basar, Idupulapaya and Nuzvid, admissions would be based on SSC marks. Candidates would be selected from every rural mandal with seats in every district divided amongst all education institutes based in that area. Only the toppers from every Government, local body, aided and private institutions would be invited for admission.

NRI seats

Mr. Reddy said 15 per cent of the seats (300 per institute) would be kept open for State level toppers irrespective of their region, rural/urban background or category.

The remaining 85 per cent seats would be filled based on Presidential Order.

He said an additional 100 seats per institute would be made open for students from other States or NRIs.

Fee structure

He said the fee for the Intermediate stage is Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 10,000 for the following four-year engineering course. Government will subsidise the fee for SC, ST and BC candidates as per the rules. Every admitted student will get a laptop each and the orders would be placed soon. He said 6,600 laptops would be acquired of which 600 would be meant for the mentors.
