SIVAGANGA: The overall pass percentage of Sivaganga district in Plus Two examinations has shot up by four per cent this year taking it to 91.65 per cent as against 87.6 last year. Results of the Plus Two examinations were declared on Friday. Totally, seven schools in the district secured centum pass percentage. S. Viswanath of Alagappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi, emerged topper in Sivaganga district with 1,173 marks, including a centum in mathematics. The district second rank went to S. Sivakumar of Oxford Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sivaganga, who scored 1,160 marks with centum in biology and 199 each in mathematics and physics. S. Manochithira of Oxford Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sivaganga, got the third rank with 1,158 marks and centum in mathematics. These students were declared toppers on the basis of Tamil language opted by them. D. Hariharan, Chief Educational Officer, told reporters here that the School Education Department was happy that the overall pass percentage went up by four per cent. In the category of those students with a language other than Tamil, the district topper with Sanskrit paper was P. Priyadarshini of Alagappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi, with 1,167 marks, securing centum in mathematics, physics and chemistry. The following were the toppers of two educational districts, Sivaganga and Devakottai: Sivaganga: S. Sivakumar, Oxford Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sivaganga: 1,160 marks; Amala Gracy, Oxford Matriculation School, Sivaganga 1,153 marks and K. C. Nirmal, Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirupuvanam 1,150 marks. Devakottai: S. Viswanath, Alagappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi: 1,173 marks; Mano Chithira, Alagappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School: 1,158 marks and N. Nagalakshmi, Chidambaram Chettiar Girls Higher Secondary School, Kottaiyur: 1,154 marks. According to School Education Department officials here, S. Nathiya of S. V. K. Higher Secondary School, A. Thekkur, scored the third highest mark in the State in Advanced Tamil with 186 marks.
