India thrashes Pakistan

COLOMBO: Three-time champion India geared up for Sunday’s final against Sri Lanka with a resounding 206-run victory over Pakistan in the last league encounter of the women’s Asia Cup at Dambulla on Friday. In another match, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by nine wickets at Kurunegala.

Electing to bat, India piled up 283 for three. After openers Jaya Sharma (74) and Karuna Jain (37) had laid a solid foundation, Anagha Deshpande (38), Mithali Raj (62 n.o.) and Rumeli Dhar (51 n.o.) sustained the momentum. In reply, Pakistan was bowled out for 77.
