New opportunities for immigrants in Canada
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The Canadian Government is said to have brought in changes in its policy to grant work permits for international students without obtaining a job offer from Canadian employers.
Under this ‘Post Graduate Work Permit Programme’, international students could not get work permits up to 3 years after their education from a post secondary institution, university or college recognised by the Canadian Government.
In a press release, Chairman and Managing Director, World-Wide Immigration Consultancy Services (WWICS) Lt. Col. (Retd) B.S. Sandhu said the change in policy would enable persons to get a Canadian study permit within two or three months and facilitate them to get a work permit on completion of the course.
He said that in the past 10 years, about 5,000 people had immigrated to Canada from Hyderabad alone, while about 30,000 Indians migrate to Canada each year.
