Salem district records 86.82 p.c. pass in higher secondary exam

SALEM: As many as 86.82 per cent students emerged successful in the higher secondary examinations in Salem revenue district. It was 5.09 per cent more than that of previous year. Girls outshone boys this year too. As many as 22,946 students emerged successful in the revenue district. The pass percentage of girls was 90.28 and that of boys was 83.52. Students in Government schools scored well this year. The pass percentage in Government schools has gone up by 5.69. to 81.91 this year, compared to 76.22 in the last year.

F. Agnes Evangleen of G.V. Higher Secondary School, Masilampalayam emerged as the district topper by scoring 1172 marks. M. Heeba of Greenpark Matriculation HSS, Attur, came second with 1169 marks and D. Kavipoornima of Holy Angels MHSS third with 1167 marks.

Shivani S. Shetty of Golden Gates MHSS secured highest score in the district (1183 marks) taking French as first language.

In the Government schools category, R. Durairaj of Mettur Dam Government HSS bagged the first place with 1119 marks. The second place went to R. Anitha of Edapadi Govt. Girls HSS (1117 marks) and third rank to G. Divya of Ammapet Corporation Girls HSS (1114 marks).

In the aided schools category, V. Ramya of St. Marys Girls HSS, Mettur Dam, came first with 1151 marks and V. Kavya from the same school bagged the second place with 1149 marks. K. Karthick of Sengundar Mahajana HSS, Taramangalam, and R. Aishwarya of St. Joseph Girls HSS, Sooramangalam, shared the third place by scoring 1137 marks each.

A total of 196 students in the district secured centum in Mathematics and 28 students in Accountancy. A total of 20 schools achieved 100 per cent results in the examinations.

They are: Salem Government Service Home HSS, Chitoor Government HSS, Nazareth HSS (Yercaud), Sri Vidya Mandir HSS (Pethampatty), Cluny MHSS, Hindu Don Bosco MHSS, Golden Gates MHSS, SSM MHSS (Gengavalli), SV Mandir MHSS (Elampillai), Glaze Brooke MHSS, Jayarani MHSS, Sri Jothi Vidhyalaya MHSS (Elampillai), Vani Vikas MHSS (Kothampadi), Jaya Bharath MHSS, Sri Vidhya Bharathi MHSS, Montfort Anglo Indian HSS, Sri Jothi HSS (Taramangalam), M.A.M. HSS (Mettur Dam), St. Marys MHSS (Mettur Dam) and Sri Amman MHSS (Vaikuntam).
