Crucial election: Election officials check electronic voting machines that are to be used in the South Bangalore constituency, on the Government Arts College grounds in Bangalore on Friday. Karnataka will witness the first phase of Assembly elections on Saturday. A keen contest is on the cards among the Congress, BJP and the JD(S) in the phase that covers 89 seats, spread over 11 districts. —
