Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Madhya Pradesh government to pay Rs. 2 lakh as relief to the next of kin of a person who was taken to a police station in Guna district and was later found dead.

The NHRC move came on a complaint filed eight years ago. As per the complaint, the body of Shanker Mali was found in a pond near Bajaranj Garh in Guna district on January 23, 2000. He had been taken to the police station on the previous day in connection with a theft case.
