Merrill Lynch to hire more

Special Correspondent

MUMBAI: Merrill Lynch chief John A. Thain on Wednesday said India is one of the most attractive places in the world for business today and Merrill Lynch is expected to recruit more people in India, while it cuts jobs in the U.S.

Merrill Lynch is one of the world’s leading wealth management, capital markets and advisory companies, with offices in 38 countries and territories and total client assets of about $1.7 trillion. The company was in the news recently for its heavy losses in the U.S. credit markets. It is a leading global trader and underwriter of securities and derivatives across a broad range of asset classes.
