NEW DELHI: Vijay Dahiya smashed the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) attack to set up a seven-wicket victory for Air India (North) in the final of the 18th all-India Om Nath Sood memorial cricket tournament at the Roshanara Club ground here. Dahiya, the ‘man-of-the-match’, hit 82 off 64 balls with 12 fours and two sixes to leave ONGC gasping. Sent in, ONGC managed 215 for nine in 40 overs. The target hardly made an impact on Air India, thanks to some excellent batting by Rohit Prakash (21, 28b), Shafiq Khan (50 n.o., 33b) and Manvinder Bisla (44, 33b). For ONGC, the runs came from Ajay Ratra (57, 57b), Mohammad Saif (38 n.o., 26b) and Sandeep Sharma (32, 49b). Shafiq Khan was declared the ‘best batsman’ and Vineet Jain of Air India the ‘best bowler.’ Mohammad Saif was adjudged the ‘man-of-the-series’. There were special promising youngsters awards for Jaspreet Dhingra of Sonnet Club and Rajiv Bose of Shastri Club. The mostt disciplined team award went to Malik Sports. The scores: ONGC 215 for nine in 40 overs (Ajay Ratra 57, Mohammad Saif 38 n.o., Sandeep Sharma 32) lost to Air India, North, 219 for three in 29.2 overs (Vijay Dahiya 82, Shafiq Khan 50 n.o., Manvinder Bisla 44). — Special Correspondent
