Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A 62-year-old man died allegedly during a scuffle with the in-laws of his daughter at Shalimar Bagh here on Saturday. While his daughter has alleged that he was killed, the police suspect that he died of cardiac arrest.

Renu, daughter of Jagannath Malik, alleged that on Saturday evening her brother-in-law, who lives with his family on the second floor of the building, beat her up.

She called up her husband and the Police Control Room. Subsequently the two were taken to the police station where they reached a compromise.

Renu, her husband and her brother-in-law were returning home when they saw Mr. Malik and his son Rakesh standing near their house.

An altercation broke out between them, which led to a brief scuffle.

In the melee, Mr. Malik collapsed on the floor.

He was rushed to Max Hospital where doctors declared dead on arrival. Renu alleged that her father was attacked with sticks and slippers.

Stating that preliminary investigations suggested that Mr. Malik had died of heart attack, the police said they would take further action on the basis of the post-mortem report.
