Railways’ ways

My journey by train No. 2651 from Trichy to Delhi recently was one long nightmare.

After the train left Chennai Egmore station, there was no water in the toilets and wash basins for over 35 hours till it reached Delhi Nizamuddin. The pantry was not adequately equipped and there was no drinking water for seven hours.

Moreover, the compartment was full of cockroaches and the general conditions all round were unhygienic.

Can nothing be done about all this? If not, then I feel it is better for the Railways to discontinue this train rather than letting it operate under such conditions.

Powerless in Delhi

I am a BSES Yamuna power consumer in the Capital with connection No. 1220R7290117. I filed a case in the Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum, Karkardooma, following which the court ordered revision of my electricity bill on March 6, 2007. However, the order of the court has not been executed by the BSES authorities so far. They have disconnected my electricity supply instead!

I met the Secretary of the Consumer Forum, who told me that the case had been challenged in the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission. But I have not received any correspondence from the Commission so far. The BSES officials are not ready to provide any relief. Is this what privatisation of the electricity services in Delhi all about? I look forward to some relief now.

Waiting for Dell

I got a Dell laptop booked for myself at Dell company’s head office through its representative, Md. Ibrahim Karani, on April 3. I also got the requisite amount transferred to A/c No. 0035439005 under the company’s IFSC code CITI0000004 the same day.

A receipt for the amount has been faxed and duly confirmed by Mr. Karani.

He promised delivery of the laptop to me within 10 to 15 days but I have not got it yet. Even the company’s inquiry status site shows that it was supposed to reach me latest by April 23.

Since then I have inquired a number of times from Mr. Karani and other executives of customer care but their replies are evasive. Despite my repeated requests they are not connecting me to their General Manager.

Can’t bank on them

I joined the Delhi Centre of the National School of Banking (NSB) coaching classes to prepare for a bank interview with the assurance that I would get three classes and at least one mock interview before the final exam. I paid the prescribed fees for the package. However, after completion of the three classes, they refused to conduct any mock interview. I requested them several times for the same but they flatly refused. They even refused to refund the balance amount.

I feel thoroughly let down and cheated. I look forward to my due refund soon.

Calling DMRC

The drop boxes at Delhi Metro railway stations for depositing credit card cheques and other utility payments like electricity, mobile and telephone bills are installed in the ticketing area where entry is possible only after one buys a ticket. I feel it would be more appropriate and meaningful if these boxes are kept ahead of the ticketing area, open to the public, like in front of the security-check counter, so that even people not travelling by the metro can also avail of the facility.

I request the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation authorities to consider and implement this suggestion at the earliest.
