Rs. 20 lakh fake currency seized at Cochin airport

Nedumbassery: Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Cochin International Airport have seized counterfeit currency notes of a total of Rs. 20 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Dubai via Colombo in a SriLankan Airlines flight. The notes in the denomination of Rs. 500. The passenger has been identified as Thajuddin from Parappa, Kasaragod.
A person named Kamaluddin, who came to receive Thajuddin at the airport, has also been taken into custody.
Sources in the airport said the currency notes were suspected to be printed in Pakistan and were meant for distribution in India.
