The flight takes off at 8.25 p.m. instead of 7.50 p.m. VISAKHAPATNAM: The strong gusty wind that blew over the city and suburbs for nearly 45 minutes on Thursday disrupted the flight schedule as the Spicejet flight 402 to Mumbai via Hyderabad could not take off for nearly 35 minutes from here. Sources said the flight took off at 8.25 p.m. instead of 7.50 p.m. and interestingly the Navy, which controls the Air Traffic Control (ATC), allowed it though the airport is open for commercial flights only from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. A naval source said the take-off was allowed “in the interest of passengers.” This is the second time the wind flow had affected aircraft movement in the last one month as the same flight which comes as flight 221 from Delhi via Hyderabad could not land on April 5 here and went back to Hyderabad. The Met department attributed the strong wind to the local influence and claimed that it was common during April and May.
