Superintendent of Police urges Maoists to join mainstream

Releases posters making an appeal to the senior ranks

VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal on Friday released two posters appealing to the senior ranks in the Maoists to join the mainstream and use their reward amount for the people’s welfare.

The posters appealed that the amount, running in to lakhs, could be used for construction of school buildings, houses, digging borewells, supply of rice, provide drinking water, helping the families of those who were killed by Maoists etc.

He also distributed the reward amounts to 8 Maoists who surrendered recently. The Superintendent of Police also requested the cadres to use the amount, totalling Rs.3.7 lakh, not only for their own resettlement but also for education in their villages.

The 10 senior Maoists who figure in the posters are Central committee member Akkiraju Haragopal, Andhra-Orissa Border Special Zone Committee secretary Modem Balakrishna, P.V. Narasimhachalam, Chadda Bhusanam, R.P. Reddy, Marpu Venkata Ramana, Bisai Kamaraju, Bakooru Venkata Ramana, Kakooru Pandanna and Kudumula Venkata Rao.
