Anju now focused on competitions

Bangalore: India’s ace long-jumper Anju Bobby George believes that “seven metres is the minimum requirement for a podium finish” at the forthcoming Olympics in Beijing from August 8 to 24.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Anju said: “Things didn’t go well at the last Olympics in Athens in 2004. Yes I got my personal best of 6.83m, but it could have been better.

“As for the Beijing Olympics, I have finished my training schedules and now I need to focus on the competitions. In May we have the Doha Super Grand Prix and then there are the European competitions.”
