Goni doubtful for next match

Chennai: Paceman Manpreet Goni, suffering from a bout of fever, is a doubtful starter for the Chennai Super Kings’ next match against the Delhi Daredevils here on Friday.

A decision on paceman L. Balaji’s match fitness will be taken on the eve of the match.

Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan said being in the squad with the likes of M.S. Dhoni, Mathew Hayden, and Michael Hussey has been a learning experience.

Asked about the departure of Hayden, Hussey and Jacob Oram, Vidyut said the side had the depth to cope with the losses. “We will miss them, but we now have Makhaya Ntini and Albie Morkel. Morkel is a good striker of the ball as well.”

Asked about his chances of opening the innings, he replied, “I don’t know whether I will find a place in the eleven or not. Coach Kepler Wessels has told us to be flexible, be mentally prepared to bat at any position.” — Special Correspondent
