CHENNAI: As part of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation’s efforts to launch “tourist friendly auto-rickshaws” here, a pre-launch tourism awareness training programme for 39 auto-rickshaw drivers was organised on Monday.
Corporation officials said the training programme focussed on extending that extra touch of warmth to overseas visitors.
The programme covered etiquette, behavioural aspects and language skills development.
Professors from the University of Madras and experts from All India Radio took part in the training programme to sensitise the auto-rickshaw drivers to greeting tourists.
State Tourism and Culture Department Secretary V. Irai Anbu, TTDC Chairman Sanwat Ram and Commissioner of Tourism and Managing Director of TTDC M. Rajaram were among those who took part in the inter-active session.
